Water tests are essential for understanding your water supply. They break down exactly what contaminants are in your water - including the hidden ones that produce no warning signs.

We need to know what’s in your water in order to design the best filtration solution.

Get to know your supply

Water contaminants can exist in numerous forms, concentrations and combinations - a concoction that is unique to your water supply and susceptible to fluctuations over time. Fluctuations in water chemistry can even occur between different points in the same system, so water testing can help you understand exactly what’s happening to your water as it flows from point A to point B.

Water can contain chemical and microbiological contaminants, and working with a UKAS accredited lab, we can run analyses on any parameter set out in the Scottish Private Water Regulations (2016), plus some added extras.

Common water tests

Analysing the quality of your water, each test looks for a specific contaminant. It reports how much of that contaminant is present and whether or not it passes on regulatory compliance. These are the chemical and microbiological tests we most commonly carry out on private water supplies.

Schedule a date

Schedule sample collection for a day and time that suits you. If you would prefer to collect the samples yourself, we can organise sample bottle delivery and give you some easy-to-follow instructions.

Collect the samples

Samples are collected in the appropriate bottles for all requested tests. These are promptly delivered to the lab, ensuring they arrive within the specified conditions and time limits for each sample type.

Discuss the results

Results are sent straight to your inbox 7 to 14 working days after the sample collection date. All results and recommended next steps can be discussed over the phone or via email.

A guide

While water tests are great at providing a snapshot of what’s going on at the date and time the samples were taken, they can’t predict the future needs of your supply. Environmental changes, natural fluctuations or exposure to new contaminants can all produce a shift in your water quality and the demands on your water filtration system. While we build a safety margin into our designs, it’s always a good idea to conduct regular water tests to monitor your water chemistry, catching any unpredictable developments nice and early.

A benchmark

Regular water testing provides a benchmark for system efficiency and equipment performance. While annual servicing ensures that expired consumables are renewed, control settings are updated and equipment is periodically cleaned, water tests make sure that all the filtration equipment is working as it should behind the scenes.
